OPTODYNE ANNOUNCES: NEW MCV 500 LASER CALIBRATION SYSTEM ENABLES PITCH AND YAW ANGULAR ERROR MEASUREMENT

18 Errors Measured by an affordable MCV 500 Laser Calibration System.
Setups are very quick with the MCV 500 because only two components need to be aligned, the laser head assembly and the retroreflector. The laser head and retroreflector mount on the machine tool, eliminating the need for a floor-mounted tripod and providing higher accuracy, convenience and additional time-savings. Usually, enclosures, fixtures and tooling do not need to be dismantled or removed. The MCV 500 provides a run speed of up to 160 in/sec (4 m/sec), four times the speed of a conventional interferometer system. The compact laser head measures 2” x 2” x 8.5”, 10 times smaller than a conventional laser interferometer system. The lightweight MCV 500 calibration system fits in a briefcase with a total weight of 20 lbs.

Based on LDDM technology, the MCV 500 reflects a modulated laser beam off of a movable target. The beam is detected and processed for displacement information used by the control to determine position. The laser head features a stability check of better than 0.1 PPM, accuracy of 1.0 PPM and resolution up to 0.000001” (0.00001 mm). The MCV 500 is calibrated and traceable to NIST and analysis software supports NMTBA, VDI, ISO and ASME B5.54 standards.

Optodyne, a California corporation, develops, manufactures and markets laser-based precision measurement equipment for machine tool calibration, metrology, OEM, and other industrial applications that require precision measurement through a worldwide distribution network. The company's products are based on the patented Laser Doppler Displacement Meter (LDDM) technology developed by Charles Wang, Ph.D. Optodyne is ISO/IEC 17025 accredited, which requires a quality system similar to ISO 9000, and testing and calibration equipment, as well as knowledgeable testing and calibration personnel.
