OPTODYNE ANNOUNCES NEW AEROSPACE CALIBRATION SYSTEM   FOR 5-AXIS GANTRY MACHINES 80% Reduction in Volumetric Calibration, Compensation and Dynamic Performance By Using Single-System Solution CONTACT: Optodyne     310-635-7481   sales@optodyne.com COMPTON, CA—July 8, 2002—Optodyne Inc., the leader in laser measurement, calibration and compensation systems, today has announced the new MCV-5000 series that provides an 80% reduction in the time required for volumetric calibration, compensation and dynamic performance of large 5-axis gantry machines.  The MCV- 5000 series is designed to provide high-precision manufacturers, such as aerospace, with a single-source solution for maintaining and documenting accuracy of machine tools. “Optodyne provides a cost-effective alternative to outside services for maintaining and documenting the accuracy of large 5-axis gantry machine tools with a single-package solution,” said Charles Wang, Ph.D., president, Optodyne, Inc.  “It’s quick to setup, reduces machine downtime by at least 50% and is easy enough to use, that with two day’s training, most machinists and technicians can become proficient.   The MCV-5000 is about time.” With the MCV-5000, the static positioning errors, angular errors, rotary axis errors and the dynamic performance can be measured.  The static positioning errors include three linear displacement errors, six straightness errors, and three squareness errors.  The angular errors include pitch, yaw and roll angular errors of each axis.  The rotary axis errors include the rotary A, B, and C axes of a 5-axis machine.  Dynamic performance includes servo parameter tuning, effects of feed forward and look ahead, velocity and acceleration, and circular and non-circular contouring.   The MCV-5000 laser calibration system uses the laser vector method for the Click here to download Newslet7.pdf file
